Her first birthday was pretty low key.  We just celebrated it here with her favorite dish spaghetti and some cake.  When we gave our gift to her she didn’t want to unwrap it but good thing Camille was there to help.  She was completely bored with the gift we got her but Camille enjoys so we might let her play with it and give her robe to Mia!

We also took Mia to the clinic to get her check up and everything was fine and she took her shots like a champ.  One thing of note was her size while she is above average in weight the shot off of the scale in height.  She measures in at 31.5 inches which is above 95% average.  I am not sure where she is getting this considering neither Chelsie or I are overly tall.  But who knows!

We also got to eat plenty of pizza from Giovanni’s Pizza a local place that has real good pizza and also the place that Chelsie’s mom and dad met/ fell in love.  So it is also special for the family other than the pizza.

We had thanksgiving dinner at Kenny’s sister’s house and it was great.  There were plenty of crazy children there so Camille fit in just fine.

Another highlight was we all played Guitar Hero.  This was the first time that I had ever played and it was as fun as I expected.  I also learned something about the Pulk daughters.  Chelsie got the rhythm.  While Sadie is a wicked guitar player her drumming skills left a bit to be desired.  Chelsie continued to make fun of her head rocking style until Sadie said lets see if you can do any better.  Chelsie started up and pretty much aced her first song and went on from here.  Who knew that Chelsie missed her calling as the drummer of a rock band.  Well done!

Like all trips down to Ohio it was too short and we had to leave and get the girls back to go to work.  The trip home was stressful as both girls picked up a bug at the nursing home and Mia didn’t sleep as well, Camille threw up just as we entered downtown Chicago.  Not wanting to get off the highway Chelsie was forced to clean up mess and change Camille’s clothes in a moving vehicle all the while Camille is crying because she is scared.  Quite an experience!

We all made it home a bit tired but safe none the less.

Take Care

Since we last talked we have taken the plunge and bought a minivan.  A while back we sold the Hyundai and recently we traded in the Subaru for a used Toyota Sienna.  Chelsie is still a bit tramatized about losing her SUV.  We bought the Sienna that has 7 passenger model and it has plenty of space for everyone.  I can fit in the back seat comfortably which is important with my new non driving status.

Both Camille and Amelia both love the new van.  They can both see out the windows much better than before.  Camille also loves the sliding doors!

Eli is a little younger than Camille and has begun potty training he was home with his sister Lily and mom Jen.  Jenny had asked me how to deal with two kids at the same time.  Especially when they are both crying!  I said that you pick up the one that is crying louder and let the other one go until you can you can get them both under control.  While that works most of the time you can have days like these.

Jenny was feeding Lily when Eli said that he had to go to the potty.  Not what you want to hear because you know that you have to help because potty trumps just about everything.  So Jenny put Lily down to give Eli the help he needed to get started then ran back to Lily who was now screaming on the floor.  Everything was going ok Lily was calmed down and Eli was finishing up his business.  Jenny hear the toilet flush crisis completed.  Until Eli said” Uh Oh Where is my underwear I can’t find my underwear.”  After feeding Jenny went into the bathroom to look for the undies.  She was unable to find them with only one conclusion left they had been flushed down with everything else.

When you are outnumbered two to one sometimes this is the best you can do.  Keep up the good work Jenny!

While the girls were away I proceded to pick up all the leaves that had fallen so far this fall.  For all those who have seen by back yard it was a pretty daunting task.  When they got back from the park Chelsie and Camille helped out as Mia slept.  With a lot of hard work we were able to get all the leaves up to the street and ready to pick up.  We were also able to take a couple of nice pictures as well.

The scary tree referance is from some perspective buyers of our house when it was one hte market.  They said that they loved the house but the trees in the back yard were scary.  It was something that none of us understood.

We had a great weekend and spent tons of time outside and playing at the parks and such.

I also took the girls to the park on Monday and Mia crawled across the bouncy bridge all by herself.  She is getting pretty daring and loves to go down slides as long as they aren’t too long.

I also have a special Congratulations to Tracy for passing her big test she is now a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

That evening the girls put on their costumes and we headed over to Dave and Heide Offord’s house in Stillwater.  For those who don’t know Dave and Heide are great friends of ours and Camille has a secret crush on Dave so look out Heide.

The party was a bit different this year.  When the Offord Pumpkin Carving Party started there was much more booze and we stayed much later.  This year the party was more about kids and it was fun to see all the families developing.

We all showed up around 5 pm and went trick n treating in their neighborhood.  Mia had a outfit of a lady bug and Camille was a hula dancer from Hawaii.  Camille’s costume was authentic becasue it was purchased in Hawaii when Aunt Sadie traveled there  on her Honeymoon last spring.  Camille was very excited and was the loudest “trick n treat” yeller in the group.  She also insisted on holding Brent’s hand for the entire walk.  We got back and Camille and Mia both divoured pizza.  I can’t tell you exactly how much Mia, but it was a lot.  After dinner the gopher game started up and Camille went in for a change of clothes.  She came out in her Gopher Cheerleader Outfit.  Her cheering gave the Gophers the power to take a early 14 point lead!  All and all it was a great day filled with friends and fun.

Dinner was quite a bit of hillarity.  Mia decided that we weren’t paying enough attention to her so she began to laugh and giggle until the whole table was laughing along with her.  Quite a scene!

Today is a special day because Camille turned 3 today.  She is growing up so fast I just can’t believe the changes that have come over her lately.  She is on top of everything that goes on here and remembers every detail.

So we had a great day playing with some of her new toys and watching her big race for the 100th time.  We told her yesterday that she could go anywhere she wanted for her birthday dinner.  She chose Snuffy’s!  Not a big shock to anyone that knows her and a $14 dinner sounds good to me.  Grandpa and Grandma Huntley called her in the morning to sing Happy Birthday to her.  Once they were done Camille asked them to come over because she wanted to see them.  So they came over after nap and we were having a great time and all went to Snuffy’s together.  When we were done with our meal we told Camille it was time to go home and open her gift and have a little treat (a cupcake).  She was very excited and couldn’t wait to see what was inside.

When Chelsie and I first started asking her what she wanted for her birthday her only answer was “A Robe” .  Over and over we asked her to see if she would change her mind, but the answer was the same “A Robe”.  We thought it was a bit strange but when the kid wants a robe we will give her a robe.  So we ordered a robe for her and had is shipped to my parents so she wouldn’t see the box.  All to build the excitement to the great revealing tonight.  I had the camera all set up and she started opening up the box and I had the camera ready for the uncontrolled excitement.  She opened it up and said “What is it Mommy?”.  We replied it is your robe that you wanted.  She couldn’t care less about the robe we had to plead with her to try it on.  Then we thought have her take a shower then she will want to wear it like Mom always does.  So we showered and she got out and put it on for about 15 seconds then wanted her old towel.  There you go she must of asked for that thing about 50 times including yesterday and now she has it and is pretty bored with it.  Glad we didn’t splurge for the $40 one! I hope she changes her mind.
